Pharmaceutical and healthcare distributor Trans-Bridge Freight Services has taken delivery of its first Carrier Transicold Vector® HE 19 MT (multi-temperature) unit as per reports from Carrier Transicold, heralding the start of a more sustainable future for the company’s temperature-controlled trailer fleet in the UK.
The Vector HE 19 MT unit features Carrier Transicold’s E-Drive™ all-electric technology, combined with a new multi-speed engine design that considerably reduces fuel consumption. The system’s fully hermetic scroll compressor and economiser also mean the Vector HE 19 unit delivers a significant increase in refrigeration capacity during pull-down while reducing the chance of refrigerant and CO2 escape.
Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation, the leading global provider of healthy, safe and sustainable building and cold chain solutions. It has helped improve the transport and shipping of temperature-controlled cargoes with a complete line of equipment and services for refrigerated transport and cold chain visibility.
“A long-standing Carrier Transicold customer, Trans-Bridge Freight Services operates 11 temperature-controlled trailers across its two depots in Manchester and Antrim, nine of which are Carrier cooled. The new unit is mounted to a new Gray & Adams 13.6-metre trailer, which replaces an older asset featuring one of the first Carrier units the company took delivery of approximately seven years ago”, says the statement from Carrier Transicold.
Trans-Bridge Freight Services is a privately owned company currently employing 39 people with three main operating depots – Dublin, Antrim and Manchester. Operating a fleet of vehicles ranging from vans to “air ride” 44-tonne artics, Trans-Bridge Freight Services currently meets the Irish demands of many National and Multinational “Blue Chip” companies in both the UK and Europe who will supply references to potential clients if so required.
“Technology is a key part of our corporate strategy. Our bespoke IT systems allow customers to link directly by either web portal, EDI file or direct interface. This provides customers with a user-friendly range of options to book consignments, transfer data, view pods and produce bespoke reporting and onsite labelling. Deliveries actioned with handheld terminals facilitate live delivery data allowing more accurate KPI reporting”, reading the website of Trans-bridge Freight services.
“Our introduction to Carrier came when we bought some second-hand trailers mounted with Vector 1850s. We were suitably impressed with their performance and reliability, so it has been an easy decision to specify Carrier systems to replace them. Working in the pharmaceutical sector, being able to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability is very important, so the excellent environmental credentials of the new Vector were a huge factor in our decision”, said Brian Anderton, Director at Trans-Bridge Freight Services.
